1. Blasphemy is Treason Against God

Blasphemy is treason individually and collectively against

In the scriptures, blasphemy

  1. Against God the Father has consequences that can be forgiven.
  2. Against God the Son Jesus Christ has consequences that can be forgiven.
  3. Against the Holy Spirit has consequences with no forgiveness with qualification of having Christian maturity.

There is still no loss of Salvation in the three types of blasphemy.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit requires an intimate relationship is already in existence with the Holy Spirit according to many Biblical Scholars and this author.

Many Biblical Scholars and this author state:
  1. If a person thinks they have Blasphemed the Holy Spirit and the same person still wants fellowship and worship of God then the person has not committed Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. 
  2. If a person with Salvation truly has committed Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit, then the person will not want anything to do with God, and yet all hope for that person is not gone to regain their former love for God through Jesus Christ.
    (a) An example might be a person that has Salvation and followed faithfully Jesus Christ until a loss of a loved one such as a young son or daughter to a violent crime such as rape or torture where the person curses God and dedicate their life to delusional worship of fake gods in revenge against God for their belief in God let the crime happen.

NOT one of us can put ourselves in the position of knowing how God will judge the severity in Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.  A person that is a mature Christian and commits blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is solely responsible for their actions and with their maturity should understand consequences..

Everyone of us are in different levels of Christian Maturity, where from the examples of many scriptures, the Judgment of God in our lives are based on His Will of revealing and operating in our lives that makes us then increasingly more accountable to our sins in different measurements with forfeiting rewards in Heaven that were accumulated to that specific point in our life. 

God reveals His use of a judgment measurement in the principles of Grace and Mercy, with a great example in the principles of the Age of Accountability.  When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior then the Holy Spirit aids us in our consciousness of knowing what to do in our life and should not be done.  Sadly, all of us at times in our life have squelched the influence of the Holy Spirit so that we could commit or continue in a specific type of sin. 

If someone goes further and further into a sinful path that leads to our perceived human view of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, can we then state unequivalently that they committed blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? 

Ephesians 1:3-19 gives us the wonderful, joyful, exceedingly marvelous understanding of levels of sins were foreknown by God, and God still chose us before we were even born!  This means God knew in advance the times that any of us would commit Blasphemy, and still God still chose us to be with Him in eternity!

Ephesians 1:3-10 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, 6 to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved. 7 In Him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, 8 which He lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His purpose, which He set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth in Him.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit occurs in two summary ways with the mature Christian:

  1. All work done by the Holy Spirit in our lives is spoken as accomplished:
    (a) by ourselves,
    (b) by a fake god, or
    (c) by Satanic Forces.
    * Rhetorically, do we all sometimes believe our gifts of knowledge and talents to achieve are our own achievements without God?
    John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

  2. Participation in sinful actions that defame the Holy Spirit's Character, Holiness, Perfection, and the life changing Work in our lives.  We are ambassadors for God as the Third Commandment requires us to act accordingly. 

As an example of an earthly country citizenship treason, is a person that is betraying the country the allegiance.  By the laws of many countries, the act of treason is punishable by death which reflects the scriptural high significance, severity, and warning not to commit blasphemy.  While we are not under the Old Testament Law that required death by stoning for specific sins, we are now under a more full encompassing law given to us by Jesus Christ in Matthew 23:36-40. 

Matthew 22:36-40 36 Teacher, which commandment is the greatest in the Law? 37 And he said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'  38 "This is the great and foremost commandment.' 39 The second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 Upon these two commandments hang the whole Law and the Prophets.

Too many Christians, believe there is freedom to sin because forgiveness is simply omitting a wrong done so that there is no consequences.  Many Biblical Scholars including this author state that the Seven Churches of the Book of Revelation are a time mapping to the health of Christianity were we are in the era of the lame church of Laodicea.

The prominent questions regarding blasphemy of the Holy Spirit for the Christian are:
 
1 Is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit an unforgivable sin? Yes!
2 Does the scriptures indicate blasphemy of the Holy Spirit a sin that can only be done by a mature Christian that has tasted the "heavenly gifts"?   (more on this later in this topic.)  Yes
3 Can a new believer or a person that is not a Christian commit blasphemy of the Holy Spirit? No
4 Is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit a sin that will prevent a mature Christian that has Salvation to lose their Salvation? No!
5 Is it possible, as a mature Christian, to commit blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and then no longer be interested in a relationship with God for a sustained period of time that may be one of the penalties of the type of blasphemy committed? Yes
6 Is there different types of severity of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit?  (This is God's judgment on our maturity.) Yes
7 If there is NOT a loss of Salvation, then are there other types of losses for blasphemy of the Holy Spirit? Yes
8 Is there examples, that are common today, in the scriptures of committing blasphemy of the Holy Spirit? Yes
9 Can loses from blasphemy  of the Holy Spirit be regained? Yes!
10 God states that He will have Mercy on whom He chooses.  Does that apply to blasphemy of the Holy Spirit? Yes

There are numerous scriptures that explicitly state that once we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior then we have Salvation, and it is impossible to lose Salvation.  We also understand that while we cannot earn our Salvation we do know that rewards in Heaven are earned. 

The key scriptural verses on blasphemy that has generated many questions are:

  1. Matthew12:31-32,
  2. Mark 3:28-30,
  3. Luke 12:10
  4. Predominately Hebrews 6:4-8, and
  5. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

These five scriptural passages shown, in the next section of this topic, state there is no forgiveness for blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. 

Many Christians have heard the interpretation of the five scriptural passage to mean there is a sin that a mature Christian can commit that will cause the mature Christian to be condemned to Lake of Fire in eternity.  This would mean a contradiction in the scriptures, and there is no contradiction.

The unforgiveness by God for the mature Christian to sin against the Holy Spirit is absolutely true as scriptural verses state but with God's province, discretion, and use of Grace and Mercy.  With great love and thankfulness to God, we read about many people in the entirety of the scriptures that at one point in their life they did commit blasphemy against the leading in their lives by the Holy Spirit and did not lose their Salvation as that is impossible along with continuing to be in God's Love and Service.

The question is what are the consequences for blaspheming the Holy Spirit?  Many Biblical Scholars including this author state:
  1. A permanent loss of some or all rewards in Heaven that were earned by the Christian, but new rewards can be regained which is God's Judgment.
  2. A loss of guidance by the Holy Spirit for a specific time-period.
    (a) The loss of guidance by the Holy Spirit may be for short-period of time or for an entire lifetime. 
    (b) If the Christian does not repent of the blasphemy and return to the guidance of the Holy Spirit then the Christian will not be at the Wedding Supper of the Lamb.
  3. A permanent separation from specific Godly assignments in the Christian's life. 
    (a) The assignments will absolutely be replaced by God for God's Glory on the repentant Christian to a build up rewards in Heaven.

There is absolutely good news for the Christian who commits blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.  Romans 8:14-18 and Matthew 5:17-19, along with many other scriptures, encourages anyone that has blasphemed the Holy Spirit:

Romans 8:14-18 14 What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God s part? By no means! 15 For He says to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion. 16 So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. 18 So then He has mercy on whomever He wills, and he hardens whomever He wills.
Matthew 5:17-19 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.  18 For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle shall in any wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

2. The Five Scriptural Passage on Committing Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

The primary scriptural references on blasphemy are the following five passages.  The importance of Hebrews 6:4-8 is the full implication, when reading the verses in full context with the surrounding verses in Hebrews 6:9-12, has the exciting revelation of the ability to still correct the blasphemy through repenting and restitution actions that are accomplished because of God's Grace and Mercy which also gives God Glory!

Matthew 12:31-32 31 Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
Mark 3:28-30 28 Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin 30 for they were saying, He has an unclean spirit.
Luke 12:10 10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. 7 Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. 8 But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak: 10 for God is not unrighteous to forget your work and the love which ye showed toward his name, in that ye ministered unto the saints, and still do minister. 11 And we desire that each one of you may show the same diligence unto the fullness of hope even to the end: 12 that ye be not sluggish, but imitators of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

A key verse of losing rewards in Heaven is "1 Corinthians 6:9-11" where the person does "not inherit", which means loss of all inheritance gained to the point in the life of the blasphemy occurring until a change has been made so new inheritance can be earned.  The grammatical structure of the verses in the Greek of Hebrews 6:4-8, as explained in the topic section "regarding Hebrews 6:4-8" in the companion topic on it is impossible to lose Salvation explains that the person can be restored to building inheritance by repenting.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 9 Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

Notice in the Greek verses of Hebrews 6:9-12 the following:

In the scriptures, there are examples of people that absolutely have Salvation but committed blasphemy against the Holy Spirit through their actions and even their thoughts. 

The four greatest sins topic contains the same summary with more details as a mature Christian should never be participating in any of these sins: 
  1. Participate in consulting Mediums, Fortune Tellers, participating in a Seance, using Necromancy
    (a) This can cause someone to reject Jesus Christ.
  2. Specific actions of
    (a) Sexually molesting, raping, abusing, and torturing;
    (b) Slavery, and racism of any kind.
  3. Murder.
  4. Adultery as the paramount violation, with additional areas to not traffic ourselves in:
    (a) Homosexuality,
    (b) Sex with a minor, and
    (c) Sadomasochistic sexuality.

Even after committing these four specific areas of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, it is is impossible to lose Salvation once Salvation has been received as it is a Marking by the Holy Spirit with numerous promises in the scriptures.  Salvation is a gift from God that cannot be earned.  Our inheritance with the rewards in Heaven are earned will be lost up until that point of the blasphemy.

This is an excerpt from the Apostle Topic:

After Jesus Christ and the Disciples has finished eating the Last Supper, the remaining eleven Disciples, Judas has left their company on a mission of betrayal, then Jesus Christ and the eleven went to the Mount of Olives.  In Matthew 26:33-35, Peter speaks about never denying Jesus Christ, but Jesus Christ tells Peter that "before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times".  Later, Peter did deny Jesus Christ three times and Peter did lose his Discipleship, which is then regained later.

Matthew 26:34-35 33 And he said to them, "Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him. 34 Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you that this very night, before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." 35 Peter said to Him, "Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You." All the disciples said the same thing too.

After the resurrection, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Salome were at the tomb.  The different accounts from the different Gospels state that they are told to tell the good news to the Disciples and Peter.  Biblical Scholars point out that Peter is singled out as not part of the remaining Disciples which from the subject and grammar indicates that he is not part of the remaining disciples, which is confirmed in the scriptures such as John 21:15-19. 
 
John 21:15-19 15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon son of John, do you love me more than these? Yes, Lord, he said, you know that I love you. Jesus said, Feed my lambs. 16 Again Jesus said, Simon son of John, do you love me? He answered, Yes, Lord, you know that I love you. Jesus said, Take care of my sheep. 17 The third time he said to him, Simon son of John, do you love me? Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, Do you love me? He said, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you. Jesus said, Feed my sheep. 18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go. 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, Follow me!
Mark 16:6-7 6 And he said to them, "Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him.  7 "But go, tell His disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He told you.'"

After Jesus Christ's resurrection, He had several appearances where one of them was on the Sea of Galilee.  Note that Sea of Galilee, is a figure of speech, as the Sea is really a very large lake.  In John chapter 21 there is the event when Jesus Christ has breakfast with the fish caught in the Sea of Galilee, which is the third time Jesus Christ appears to disciples and Peter.

During breakfast Jesus Christ asks Peter three times "Simon, son of John, do you love Me?", where Peter replies each time "You know that I love you".  In John 21:19, Jesus Christ confirms Peter's reinstatement, "Follow Me!", followed by a dialogue with Peter concerning intimate topics that the scripture states "I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that would be written", in verse John 21:25.

John 21:19 Now this He said, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me!"
John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that should be written.

The following is an excerpt from the topic on Judas Iscariot:

Jesus Christ predicted several times in His walk with the Disciples that he would be betrayed.  This demonstrates Jesus Christ's foreknowledge of Judas Iscariot's actions.  Notice the phrase "and one of you is a devil", and betrayal is meant as someone trusted to perform and act one way and does the exact opposite to the harm of someone, and others. 

John 6:66-71 66 Upon this many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67 Jesus said therefore unto the twelve, Would ye also go away? 68 Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we have believed and know that thou art the Holy One of God. 70 Jesus answered them, Did not I choose you the twelve, and one of you is a devil? 71 Now he spake of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

Judas Iscariot never received and asked for Salvation, which is reflected in John 17:12.  The structure of the grammar used by Jesus Christ in John 17:12 reflects that Judas Iscariot was never part of the twelve Disciples by the words used in the original Koine Greek. 

If Judas Iscariot was part of the twelve in having Salvation, then the words used would mean "None has been lost except for the one that I would NOT save" as if Jesus Christ refused to give Salvation to Judas Iscariot, which is not true.  This is confirmed when Judas Iscariot stated "I have betrayed innocent blood", which gives all of us the thoughts of Judas Iscariot after the betrayal.  Judas Iscariot had been scheming against Jesus Christ and additionally all of the Disciples during the fellowship as exemplified by stealing from their treasury.

John 17:12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost but the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.

3. The Apostles Peter and Paul along with Details on Their Committing Blasphemy

Two of the Apostles Peter and Paul both committed blasphemy in their lives but went on to accomplish great achievements with future rewards in Heaven to God's Glory!

The scriptures gives the evidence of blasphemy for our understanding by the Apostle Peter and Saul who becomes the Apostle Paul.  Blasphemy does cause the loss salvation, but only the consequences of rewards in Heaven that were accrued to the point of the blasphemy.  

Peter, when he was a Disciple, denied he knew Jesus Christ three times and was reinstated by Jesus Christ as a Disciple.  Paul was arresting Christians and have some stoned to death such as the Disciple Steven.

4. Did Adam and Eve Commit Blasphemy? Yes

The following is a partial excerpt from the topic on Losing Salvation is Impossible:

Adam and Eve committed the most grievances of sins by having direct contact with God and doing the only one thing that God prohibited them from doing.

No one doubts Adam and Eve's Salvation as evidence by the scriptures history of their lives after the eating of the Forbidden Fruit.  By the incorrect standards that some people will speak on losing salvation is possible, then Adam and Eve should have lost their Salvation where Adam and Eve did NOT lose their Salvation!

 

5. Did King David Commit Blasphemy? Yes in Three Ways

King David was an extraordinary man that was full of contradictions, weaknesses, evil traits, and even blasphemy.  In the topic on King David, this author recalls the Biblical Scholar Emil Gaverluk stating he had a hard time reading anything about David until the Holy Spirit revealed to Emil that "King David is idiomatic of Israel!" which then had Emil love reading about David, which is the same for this author. 

King David did recognize his own severe problems that were foremost against God and prayed to God in Psalm 51:11 to not lose God's Holy Spirit.

Psalm 51:7-17 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice. 9 Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.  10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. 13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you. 14 Deliver me from blood guiltiness [murder], O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness. 15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. 16 For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Many people know the history of David's frailties and sins, where these are easy to then realize that David did blasphemed God:

The scripture show that King David:

  1. Never lost his Salvation,
  2. Suffered greatly for the blasphemies,
  3. Never lost the Love of God, and
  4. Has a place in the future Millennial Kingdom which is proof that he did NOT lose his Salvation.

All of his life reveals God's recovery for David that God also has for us which is to God's Glory!

The following is a partial excerpt from the topic on King David:

King David in another incident of sinning against God, was given three choices on the penalties for conducting a census not to be done, where the prophet Gad confronts David.  Notice this is one time, noted in the scriptures, that Joab acted very righteously.   David in this earlier occasion before the adultery and murder had these consequences:

  1. Not performing justice on Joab for the murder, treason, and revenge of Abner where David instruct his son Solomon execute Joab after David's death.
  2. The Insubordination of doing what God told David not to do which caused the penalty of 70,000 Israelis deaths by a plague.
The following is an excerpt from the topic on Joab where Joab actually acts righteously with King David in advising David to not go against God in performing a census: 
2 Samuel 24:3 But Joab replied to the king, May the Lord your God multiply the troops a hundred times over, and may the eyes of my lord the king see it. But why does my lord the king want to do such a thing?

Because of the disobeying, Gad the prophet gave King David three choices as read in 2 Samuel 24:13:

  1. Three years of famine?
  2. Three months of fleeing from your enemies while they pursue you?
  3. Three days of plagues on your land.

King David did not chose and let God chose where there was three days of a plagues where seventy thousand of the people from Dan to Beersheba died.

2 Samuel 24:15-17 15 So the Lord sent a plague on Israel from that morning until the end of the time designated, and seventy thousand of the people from Dan to Beersheba died. 16 When the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the Lord relented concerning the disaster and said to the angel who was afflicting the people, Enough! Withdraw your hand. The angel of the Lord was then at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite. 17 When David saw the angel who was striking down the people, he said to the Lord, I have sinned; I, the shepherd, have done wrong. These are but sheep. What have they done? Let your hand fall on me and my family.

6. Can We, as Mature Christians, Lose our Salvation for Blasphemy? No

There are penalties on all sins including Blasphemy, where God indicates Blasphemy has a problem where it is not forgivable, BUT God did not state in the problem of forgiveness means loss of Salvation.   Additionally, everyone of us has had blasphemy thoughts in our lifetime and at some point potentially have acted on our thoughts.

It is impossible to lose Salvation

Romans 3:23-24 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." 
John 6:36-38 36 But I said unto you, that ye have seen me, and yet believe not. 37 All that which the Father giveth me shall come unto me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38 For I am come down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

7. Blasphemy in a Leadership Position such as a Pastor

Any one that is leadership in Christianity can make mistakes in doctrine, being an ambassador of Jesus Christ as all Christians should be, and many more areas; but there are specific areas that a person cannot do as it is a form of blasphemy with permanent consequences.  The permanent consequences does not mean the person loses opportunities to gain rewards in Heaven to God's Glory!

The following is a partial excerpt from the topic on a Removal of Anyone in Church Leadership:

The Pastor and Leadership of a any type of Christian Church and Organization, and even a Bible Study Group, need to be prepared for temptations.  It is almost beyond belief how many Pastors have been caught publicly and exposed to the Media for the embarrassment of someone who is representing God,  The most common four areas are:

  1. In Adultery,
  2. Improper handling of Church Funds for obsessive salaries and bonuses,
  3. Outright embezzlement, and
  4. An ostentatious lifestyle of the rich and famous.  

Not much needs to be explained scripturally why these four areas are wrong, yet there are still other areas of wrong doing.  Pastors and Teachers have a greater level of accountability as explained in the scriptures such as 1 Timothy 3:1-17.  If an explanation is required, then this ignorance of the importance of ambassadorship (3rd Commandment) of a church leader is proof of unwarranted leadership roles.  

Axiom Statement

A Pastor, Evangelist or anyone in a position of Christian leadership that while in church leadership or being a Christian before Christian Leadership:

  1. Participate in consulting Mediums, Fortune Tellers, participating in a Seance, using Necromancy,
  2. Committed Adultery, Homosexuality, Sex with Minors, Sadomasochistic Sexuality
  3. Has Murdered anyone,
  4. Has committed Psychological abuse of anyone,
  5. Has committed Physical abuse of anyone,
  6. Has committed Sexual abuse of anyone, or
  7. Has enslaved someone physically or mentally which can also be racially or gender motivated.

must immediately resign and NEVER return to a position of leadership in a Church or Ministry.  In place of returning, after a long period of restitution has been attempted, then the person can return to a position of service only in a Christian congregation which involves no possibility of leadership.  Returning to a role of leadership, puts God up for public shame.

(Note: These seven bullet points are part of the Four Greatest Sins.  The only exception for leadership is someone in a prison scenario or a recovery group, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, where the leader and all members may be involved in one area of the seven bullet points.)

Forgiveness is absolutely there from God, but a Church Leader participating (or participated) in any of the seven bullet points is similar to Esau not holding his birthright in high regards, which God required of all first-borns in the Old Testament Dispensation Period.  Esau traded the birthright for a bowl of stew to eat, as read in Genesis Chapter 25.  Esau forsook his birthright responsibility which his parents, his brother Jacob and others witnessed or learned later thus putting God up to public shame.  The consequences for Esau are explained more fully in Hebrews 12:15-17

Hebrews 12:15-17 15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; 16 that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. 17 For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears.

If any of us are going to a place of worship that has leadership, by someone who has committed anyone of these seven bullet points while being a church leader, then we:

  1. Must demand their resignation, through proper procedures as detailed in Matthew 18:15-20 and 1 Timothy 5:19-20, or
  2. Stop going to the place of worship which this person is in a leadership position. 

Attending a place of worship, with a leader who committed any one of these seven bullet points while being a church leader, then this puts God up to public shame because the person was a spokesperson for God.  The ramifications are:

  • The Honor and Dignity of God has been publically disgraced.
  • New Christians will be discouraged or even stop going to Church.
  • Non-Christians will not necessarily believe in the power of God can make people better.
  • The magnitude of these seven bullet points will most likely damage the victims for their entire lifetime.

Again the person is absolutely forgivable, but should not be in a leadership role of any kind in a Church, Ministry and even a Bible Study.  As an example, consider the sin of Adultery as one type of form of blasphemy.  It unfortunately has to be stated that God and all of us absolutely require our spouse, sons, daughters, friends, visitors and even ourselves have protection and no fear from the predatory act of adultery by a Church leader in a Church venue and also in the life of a Church leader.

  1. The sin of adultery is a form of blaspheming the Holy Spirit for a Church leader, as such a person is called by God as a role of God's representative to the Christian community and non-believing world with special anointing of gifts from God, just like Prophets in the Old Testament. 
  2. The Church leader who commits adultery does NOT suffer the loss of Salvation, as it is impossible for anyone to lose Salvation, but the sin of adultery for a Church leader has a specific consequence along with others, which is to no longer serve in any role of leadership in a Church, with the exception in the areas to serve as a leader in:
    (a) Prison Ministries,
    (b) Alcoholics/Drug/Sex Anonymous Ministries, and
    (c) Adultery type-of Recovery Ministries
    where disclosure of a person's weaknesses and mistakes are part of recovery, rehabilitation and examples for others to know they can overcome their problems.
  3. Failure to cease serving in a role of Church leadership is a continued grievous sinful action of putting Jesus Christ in "public disgrace" as explained in great detail in the "regarding Hebrews 6:4-8" topic link.
James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.
Hebrews 6:4-8 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. 7 Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. 8 But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

ONE OF THE GREATEST PROOFS that a person serving in Church Leadership should never return to the role of leadership after adultery is given in the scriptures concerning Moses, who did NOT commit adultery, but falsely represented God.  An adulterous Church Leader has misrepresented God.  A few Biblical Scholars, which this author agree, state that Moses is a perfect example of the seriousness of representing God correctly.  Moses for 40-years lead Israel during the Exodus, and there one incident that God forgave him but the significance of misrepresenting God had a very punitive consequence.  Some of us might initially think it is not fair for this to happen to Moses after 40-years of faithfulness, until we realize we cannot commit specific sins that will publicly dishonor God and God's Glory

Moses is one of the greatest teachers in the scriptures, that far surpass any modern-day Church Leader's abilities.  The mistake that Moses made occurred during the Exodus wandering when Israel needed water.  God had instructed, in an earlier occasion to strike a rock to bring forth water for Israel.  On the next occasion, God instructed Moses to ONLY speak to the rock and water would come forth for Israel.  On the second occasion, Moses was angry at the people so Moses strikes the rock disobeying God, Numbers 20:6-12.  Moses misrepresented God by striking the rock the second time, which gave the impression to the people that God was angry at the people, when God was not.  Also, the striking of the rock the second time, broke the model of the future Jesus Christ missions.  The rock is an idiom for Jesus Christ and the water the Holy Spirit, where Jesus Christ was to be smitten once in His first mission at the Cross, and not smitten the second time in His Glory.  Moses then had the consequence of not being able to enter the Promise Land.

Exodus 17:5-7

5 The Lord answered Moses, Go out in front of the people. Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go. 6 I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink. So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel. 7 And he called the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the Lord saying, Is the Lord among us or not?
Numbers 20:6-12

6 Moses and Aaron went from the assembly to the entrance to the tent of meeting and fell facedown, and the glory of the Lord appeared to them. 7 The Lord said to Moses, 8 Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.

9 So Moses took the staff from the Lord s presence, just as he commanded him. 10 He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock? 11 Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.

12 But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.
Revelation 22:1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb

(Future Eternity of water coming from the Throne of God.  God is our Rock of Salvation.)

There is the question if God will be still present in an adulterous and repented church leader's work at a Church?  "Yes" is the answer, but that is because God's Word will never go out void, Isaiah 55:11, but every moment the adulterous repented church leader is working in church leadership is a sin against God.  Furthermore, if makes God appear to have no power to change lives if a church leader, who should be mature had adultery even in the past, and can sin in such a grievous sin.

Isaiah 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

God absolutely still loves a Church leader who has committed adultery and the sin will be forgiven by God, but there are still consequences besides no longer being a role of Church leadership for the remainder of their life.  Grace and Mercy applies to all of us, as everyone of us are sinners, where there are always other areas to serve God and build Rewards in Heaven because of our love for Jesus Christ. 

 

Without Forgiveness for Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit can Someone Still enter Heaven?

There are Christians that have asked and stated:

"If no one can enter Heaven without Jesus Christ as their Savior. because Jesus Christ made a payment for their sins, then how can a person who asked Jesus Christ to be their Savior and then the person Blasphemed the Holy Spirit enter Heaven?"

The answer is yes and is provided throughout this topic along with these summary points:

  1. Salvation is a "Gift of God" as read in Ephesians 2:7-9. 
    (a) None of us earned Salvation, and Salvation is a gift available for the asking through Faith.
    (b) No scripture states that God takes away the Gift!
     
  2. Jesus Christ made the restitution for all sins for the entire history of all people.
    (a) This includes those who would NOT ask for Salvation, and thus not receive Salvation.
    (b) This includes those who have Salvation and would commit Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

    (c) The scriptures do NOT state anywhere that God would exclude those people that would Blaspheme the Holy Spirit.
    (d) The scriptures do state that God chose people before the foundation of the Earth, which then means the people that have Salvation and later commit Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit are still part of the chosen. 

    (e) There are those who can appear to have Salvation and NEVER had it, such as Judas Iscariot, and Jesus Christ never accepted Judas as read in John 17:12.
     
  3. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is a sin that is not forgiven where also:
    (a) The rewards in Heaven for each of us are earned.
    (b) Any type of sin that we NEVER repent from is NOT forgiven in relation to the earning of rewards in Heaven.  The Overcoming of sins gets rewards is one of five categories for our inheritance.
1 John 2:2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
John 3:16-17 16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.
Hebrews 2:9 But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
Ephesians 2:7-9 7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 1:3-5 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him.
