According to Biblical Scholars such as Chuck Missler, there are over 200 Figures of Speech in the Scriptures. In the book "Cosmic Codes, Hidden Messages from the Edge of Eternity", Chuck Missler has a list in Appendix A that list the types and sample Scriptural Verses. Here is a partial list:
Examples
This list below is not to be consider complete and exhaustive but a representation that God uses rhetorical devices to teach, amplify and prove points. They are not in a specific order of importance but illustrate and prove their use by the Holy Spirit in the Scriptures.
1 HUMOR: In Luke
24:13- Jesus joins, two of the disciples on the road from Jerusalem to Emmaus
and they do not recognize Him. After talking for a while, Cleopas asks the
unknown man why he doesn't know about events that just occurred in Jerusalem.
Of course, Jesus Christ knew! He answers "What things?" which is
hilarious when you realize
(a) who He is,
(b) Jesus proceeds to give the two of
them a short Scriptural study,
(c) and how disappears from their sight in verse

Luke 24:13-21 | 13 And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was threescore furlongs from Jerusalem. 14 And they communed with each other of all these things which had happened. 15 And it came to pass, while they communed and questioned together, that Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. 16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. 17 And he said unto them, What communications are these that ye have one with another, as ye walk? And they stood still, looking sad. 18 And one of them, named Cleopas, answering said unto him, Dost thou alone sojourn in Jerusalem and not know the things which are come to pass there in these days? 19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: 20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21 But we hoped that it was he who should redeem Israel. Yea and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things came to pass. |

What is Salvation? We have eternal life. Evolution is not real. When a Christian suffers is there benefits from it. Rewards in heaven. Do we Tithe? What does the 3rd Commandment tell us? What is Grace and Mercy? Is there an Age of Accountability? Is there a place of unending punishment and exile form God?
